Topsail Turtle Project sets training dates

Terry Meyer, Director of Beach Operations has scheduled training classes for volunteers interested in becoming part of our 2011 beach patrol. As a “beach walker” you will be assigned to a specific section of Topsail Island beach (approximately one mile) that you will patrol for sea turtle activity on your assigned day. You must be available to walk one morning a week during the nesting season, May 1 through August 31. We try to name our new admits after the location where they were rescued (“Pier,” “Bogue”) or the particular circumstance that landed them in our hospital (“Sharky”.) Over three-hundred patients down the road we’re ready to admit that our well of creativity is running a little dry.
